It was a wonderful start with our pōwhiri; Kaikaranga by Waitangi Black and Marie Stewart (hau kāinga) and Faithe Hanrahan (manuhiri). Our whaikōrero; te rangatira o Ngāti Awa, Brian Simpson and te Minita Maui Akuhata. Our facility was blessed and our guest speakers included MP Kiritapu Allan (who is also a member of the Pūtauaki branch) and Principal of Te Whata Tau o Pūtauaki, Ripeka Lessells (President of Whakaari branch) with our very own Minita Libby Heke presiding. Thank you to all our branches, members and distinguished guests who came to awhi the opening and then stayed for our regional hui. Ka mau te wehi wāhine me whānau.
